(1915 – 1988)
PEOPLE – LANDSCAPES – STILL LIFES
After the death of the painter and art professor Alexey von Schlippe in the summer of 1988, we, his family, became guardians of his extensive artistic estate. Since the last exhibition almost 20 years ago, the pictures are waiting to be exhibited and seen. The centenary of the artist’s birth gave us the impetus to create our own Direction to host an exhibition.
Together with Xenia, the painter’s 93-year-old widow, and their two children, three grandchildren and other members of the family, the project was created and implemented: the pictures were photographed, a catalogue was created and works were selected for the exhibition. The exhibits are now on view in the Columned Hall in Landsberg am Lech.
We are pleased that you have had the interest and time to visit our exhibition. We wish you a good conversation with Alexey’s pictures. You are very welcome!

ENAsked about his work: “…are these symbols?”

EN“… representations of landscapes and people seem to be far removed from one another, yet I have one desire, to seek their primal and essential meaning rather than a fleeting cursory illustration of same.”
DE“…

“… these figures, like the objects in the still lives and landscapes, seem as mysteriously absent and ethereal as they are overwhelmingly, massively present.”
DE
